has been arrested after a British woman was found dead in her hotel bathroom. was
heard arguing with a man, thought to be her boyfriend, in their room on Monday
night at the Ramada La Palma au Lac in Locarno, Switzerland,– shortly after
their arrival. Worried guests alerted staff to the commotion and a night porter
was sent to try to calm the situation.
But
at 7am on Tuesday morning, her lifeless body was discovered and she was declared
dead at the scene by paramedics. According to the Corriere del Ticino, the
as-yet unnamed man told police Anna died during a sex game that went wrong.
Prosecutors are currently considering whether to charge him with murder or
culpable homicide, local media reports. He is currently being held nearby in a
prison in Farera.
There
were initially no signs of violence found on her body but a post-mortem
confirmed she died from suffocation or asphyxiation. Small fractures and cuts
were also found on her body. A spokesperson for the Foreign and Commonwealth
Office told Metro.co.uk: ‘Our consular staff are assisting the family of a
British woman following her death in Switzerland and are in contact with the
Swiss and UK police.’
