Men are very sensitive to the feelings that they have failed when they hear a woman's complaints. He knows his duties as a man and all he desires to be is her hero, and when she is disappointed or unhappy over anything, he feels like a failure. 

A man's deepest fear is that he is not good enough or that he is incompetent. This does not have to do with any woman but a belief that must have been formed and reinforced from childhood. 

I cannot explain this but I guess it would be because of the responsibilities of *being a man* which has been foisted on him from a very young age. 

Her unhappiness confirms his deepest fear. "A man appears most uncaring when he is afraid."And when he is insecure, goes into a defensive mode of an "I do not care"attitude. 

When a man finds an environment of encouragement and acceptance where he knows it is okay to make mistakes sometimes he will be himself. 

Ladies you do not know how vulnerable your man is and how much he needs your love to blossom.

I am not saying you should not talk about your problems, but find a conducive environment, in a good tone, because I know that your intention is not to tell your husband that he is a failure.
